Wiki the story and you will learn that although Zantzinger struck Hattie Carrol on the shoulder with his cane, that the blow was not the cause of her death. Zantzinger's behavior may have deeply upset her, but Hattie Carrol was not beaten to death by a cane. She died of a stroke. Zantzinger got a manslaughter charge and served a six month sentence, which he deserved for assaulting people. But the truth is that his six month sentence was not unjust as Dylan claims.
