Hey guy. I worked with the SeaBees on this Island. It seems some of my Marine brothers were getting into trouble at the "Brit Club" by starting fights with the SeaBees. Because of this our CO decided it would be a great idea to make us do some of your work for a day. Ha. Well I loved it. Couldn't wait to get back to my M16 though.

The inhabitants of Diego Garcia and the Chagos islands were expelled by Britain so that the islands could be given to the U.S.A. to build a military base.
The islanders have lived in slums in Mauritius ever since. They are fighting to be allowed back home but the British government is placing legal obstacles in their way.
There is a petition to the British Prime Minister on the internet which you should sign if you are British. There is more information at the Chagos support website.
