The Story of Stuff http://www.storyofstuff.com will take you on a provocative tour of our consumer-driven culture — from resource extraction to iPod incineration — exposing the real costs of our use-it and lose-it approach to stuff.

The movie is just the beginning of the story. Watch it, learn more and get involved here: www.StoryofStuff.com

  • stop being negative. she's trying to help

  • The American Indian before used everything. Had the best system, the happiest children. No taxes. Etc. Looks at what they had compared to what we have now. Pretty much the 7 deadly sins hard at work now. Sad, truly sad. Nothing toxic should be made. Packaging materials should be able to be burned in your back yard w/o creating toxins. I got a neighbor that burns plastic bags. 2.5 lbs of burning plastic will cause cancer in 5000 animals. I tell him & he don't care. INSANE!

  • Amazing truly amazing

  • @ankobean11 because most people wouldn't watch it... they are to busy with their sitcoms and sports

  • amazing series!!! why can't we show this kind of stuff on tv!? :)

  • Thanks for the vid. i am in the marketing industry myself and know EXACTLY what you're talking about. moderate consumption and sustainability actually results in more personal fulfilment because then you have extra time and money to spend on things that actually matter instead of being a slave to shopping to make yourself happy ( but for a very short time so you have to buy again) its much more healthy to spend time with loved ones and to look out for each other and be creative than to shop! :)

  • (Part 3) I’m all for conservation and renewable resources and energy, but this video is ridiculous! Lying to make your point is no better than the what the Corporations are doing. This is literally the biggest piece of propaganda that I have seen in recent years.

  • (Part 2) Bush did not tell us to go shopping after 9/11, there is absolutely no truth to this rumor. You absolutely do NOT need to buy a new computer when you want to upgrade your specs! Thats ridiculous! Most people who are computer literate even a little bit KNOW that this is complete BS! Computers are not Jigsaw Puzzles! The new hardware fits! Believe me! And since when do people laugh at others for their heal size?!?

  • (Part 1) There are so many "facts" in this video that are simply untrue. 50% of our taxes do not go to the military, only 20% do. The UN recently reassessed their view of "slums" after finding that the slums are away OUT of poverty. We do not simply take resources to factories to dump "toxic" chemicals on them, although some chemicals unfortunately do slip through, but not in the amount that this video makes it seem.

  • For those of you who recognize how we are destroying our very planet I advise watching Zeitgeist: Moving Forward, available on youtube, that has everything to do with what is discussed here and offers a viable solution.

  • My dustbin is right next to my computer table. I was just looking at it as she spoke about disposal.. I buy a lot of shit man! Gotta stop.. Good work..

  • That's all about right-- either we start fixing the system now, or we become forced to fix the system very soon.
