Note: I am merely an observer... I do not take any part in the celebration of the New Year because some Pope at some point decided that we're gonna celebrate at this point... etc... The earth revolves around the sun and he just picked a point when we are going to celebrate... this point could have been chosen from anywhere along earth's orbital path... God Created His calendar in the bible and I'm seriously considering looking into that... - End of note...
Started the Gregorian Year this way: Was timelapsing Port Louis and the Fireworks... Alone on the road that leads to the top of Signal mountain... my two friends had chosen another spot higher up... At 00:02 I met the first person in 2012 ... a police car had stopped by... One of the 3 policemen from inside the car first said: "Missié, Bonne Année" ... I thought wow, that's cool... they stopped the car to say that... very nice... so I wore my best smile and joyfully responded with a very enthusiastic "Bonne Année" ... but it didn't stop there... the policeman (that i couldn't see - it was too dark) continued with:
- Missié, Oune pran permission pou ou monte la?
- Eh? Euuuuh? Non...
- Aben nou bizin dire ou descan, Ou pas gagne droit vinn la
- Euh.... en fait, si! mone deman gardien la en bas... (It was true! we did ask! - the guy even showed us where to park the car...)
- Pas ar li ki bisin demander...
- Euh - Bé ena encore lezot dimoune plis la haut...
- Nous p al tire zot la... a coz Pas gagne droit...
- Mais mo pann vinn dans l'auto moi... mone monté a pied...
- Pas fer nanier sa... Ou BISIN descan...
- Bon OK... bé laisse moi encore 5 min, P fini meme la
Police car drove off... Later when I asked my friends who were up on the mountain what happened when the police arrived, 2 cars... they said that the police NEVER asked anyone to leave... So WHAT WAS THEIR PROBLEM WITH ME????
When the first police car went down they asked me again to pack my stuffs... so I told them that I had friends up and that I was waiting for them to come down... They kept looking at me, so I went on to give a description of my friends... Then they drove off... When I told them that I was with a french guy who is a Teacher... (This goes to show how the police thinks!!! - My clearance seemed to have been upgraded the moment i mentioned - French - WTF???) And when my friends came, a second police car came and stopped... told me to leave again... I said, yes I'm moving... I was waiting for my friends, and they're here... The police officer said: "Oh they're with you?" I said yes... then he added smth like... well good because you have cameras and everything so it is safer for you if you're not alone... then they drove off...
We were on Signal mountain... there were a few chinese families who went up as well... didn't see them get down... WE didn't meet anybody ODD... and the police was patrolling... So I really can't understand why that police officer told me to leave... WILL CALL LINE BARRACKS TOMO!!! No way I'm letting them off without an explanation.
I would have loved to stay for an additional 30 minutes to timelapse the Fireworks FOG leaving the harbour... that would have been great!!!
