God I have so many friends who love bands like the allman brothers, the dead, phish etc. Whenever I bring up Bruce they only think of "Born In The USA", "Dancin' In The Dark", and songs like that. So many people don't understand that Bruce and The E Street Band had/have so many incredible jams... I would definitely put this in the same league as any so called "jam" band. This performance is flawless they are such a smoking hot band!

Greatest of all time. That howl at 5:06 gives me chills.

I love the huge, "STEINWAY" plastered onto the piano, so gritty and badass.

I am in wholehearted agreement with you. This is his best concert ever. I have listened to these guys since I was 5 but am only 21 and first saw this concert on a PBS special and now own dvd. I would take these guys over any of those other bands you mentioned.

I was at this concert, the crowd couldn't respond, it was too musical, they were mesmerized and stunned, it had been billed as something like 'the future of rock'n roll' . People weren't quite expecting 'rock' musicians to actually work for two hours plus. Watching this i remember being speechless but not excited, odd experience, too good much much too good, punk came next something people could feel easier with.

There was a lot of music press cynicism at the time because of the 'future of rock and roll' hype. Bruce messed a nail up tearing posters down in Hammersmith because of that tagline. I suspect a lot of the crowd weren't fans and were just ligging journos ready to rip it apart. Bruce probably had very few fans in the UK at the time. I remember having to buy his albums on import back then.
