I found this one-legged and bedraggled rook, which was looking rather damp and miserable, perched on a wall beside a steam in a small wooded area in the centre of Malham in the Yorkshire Dales. This was a trip organised by the Rochdale Field Naturalists Society although as a disclaimer I do not represent the RFNS in any way and I am not really a member. That is the red tape over with. But the rook is one of my favourite birds and what better place to spend a summers day beside a rookery with the birds flying around in circles and making an awful noise. Date 13th August 2011.
