Vikings didnt had horns in their helmets...
-
@gobliini the director openly stated that he had no intention of being historically accurate. Just wanted to make a movie where vikings looked like badasses.
-
Even The History Channel is full of biased documentaries, specially concerning the Cold War!
-
Are you so sure about it? Did you know all the vikings from the Middle Ages?
-
Seems like plenty of white folks play the race card when stereotypes about non-whites that don't favor their perceptions are knocked over. Apparently you missed the point I tried to make as Exterminance gets away from your accusation scot-free. Lame.
-
And the Mongols were Saints? And the Japanese? Don't play the race card, the Native Tribes warred amongst themselves for centuries - scalping and pillaging are not inherent to any single race.
And I think everyone here is missing the point... it's a bloody movie. The Vikings in it are heavily stylized so they look scary: that should be immediately obvious. This is a dark, gritty, violent action movie - not a history channel special on North America. Don't look for realism in it.
-
atleast they got the scandinavian names right.
-
And previous films on Natives painted whites as angelic saviors and Natives savage. Vikings pillaged, plundered and took what wasn't theirs instead of asking for trade. Typical white custom.

where is asterix when you need him?

This is a good movie, but a bad lection of history. The vikings are clearly taken from warhammer fantasty battle chaos marauders. Vikings don't resembel those allmost at all.
