It's a Lullaby, originally written in German. In this Italian version it's about 'A thousand cherubs in chorus' singing the lullaby

Questo brano e' accompagnato dalle soprano e dalle contralto.

Grazie a Lei! E' interesante, non ho trovato ancora quella versione col coro di adulti, solo quella col coro composto di bambini. E sì, certamente qui mi hanno accompagnato soprani e contralti, ma volevo dire che tutti sono bambini :) . Anche se, grazie del chiarimento! Tanti saluti!

In 1974 I purchased a Fisher-Price stuffed owl with windup music box for my firstborn and it plays (still works!) the chorus of this lullaby. Original box had the Schubert info on it, but I'd been searching for years for the title of this pretty little piece and finally found it.

we're singing this in my choir in Italian, like this version. there's something about their voices that i doesn't quite appeal to me - i'm not sure what it is. maybe it's becuz i can't really hear what they're singing... it's probably just me.
