@chairde I know this is a year late, but I'm going to try to answer your question anyway...
He doesn't mean "fierce" in the traditional usage - intensely aggressive, ferocious, and wild; but rather as a slang term for being bold, with a generally good connotation. If you google "fierce urban dictionary", that has a better explanation.
Also, I agree whole-heartedly.

Bear with me on this question because I'm 63 years old and not up on jargon. Is Johnny using the word fierce in a manner that is different from the traditional meaning of the word?
