*** About the Walk For Liberty

What are you willing to do for freedom?

Vote? Protest? Participate in a rally? Walk all the way across the country?

We are.

This summer, a group of activists will be walking across America to achieve more freedom and liberty.

Our pioneer forefathers trekked across the continent from the east to the west to find a better life for themselves. This time, we're doing it in reverse.

I am walking coast-to-coast across the country, from Oregon to New Hampshire. I am joined by my immediate family as well. We're on a quest to gain more freedom for ourselves and for our country by spreading the message of freedom and liberty along the way.

Why are we doing this?

We see the gradual chipping away at freedoms in America, and want to do our part to stop it. My wife and I are moving to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project. New Hampshire is already the freest state in the country, which is why we are moving there. But we also want to help bring more freedom to as many other people as possible.

Therefore we are walking across America to get to New Hampshire. We are walking all the way there to bring as much media attention and publicity as possible to two liberty-oriented causes: the Free State Project, which is working to make New Hampshire even more free, and Ron Paul's message of freedom for everyone. • One good thing about having a year to plan for your divorce is time can be spent putting together a divorce shower and a divorce reception, to celebrate getting the government outta your personal union - maybe could even convince a batch of Free State Projecters to do a mass-divorce-from-government day with you both. That would draw a lot of attention to this issue, if enough agreed to do it. Everyone re-marries only under the eyes of one's creator, or, just married of one's own accord.

  • Congrats Will & Brooke, I think you would make a great Supreme Court Judge... I like your logic ;o) days are getting short here in the Northeast better step it up...

  • Government marriage is the best subject to expose the tyranny of this government and how old this tyranny is. Find a law dictionary and look up "marriage license." It was instituted in 1870 to keep white people from marrying black people. It has always been tyrannical in it's nature!

  • I wish to hell I never would have done a government marraige...I lost everything i have but my life.. Alimony is another story, could you imagine being married to a lazy ass or a druggie who doesn't, and you have to pay them money the rest of yours or their life so they can keep their lifestyle... screw that. Although I'm not crazy about Britney, but her worthless ex just got another $9,000 a month (for how long). what did he do for her success. the lawyers that benefit, thats another story.

  • The government is insidious. Even if you don't want a government marriage they will force one upon you. If you live like you are married, the government will recognize it as a legal marriage and you would be responsible financially if your partner would have become indebted, owed the IRS penalties, sued by a third party, etc. You don't even have to be together long enough to have a statutory marriage.

  • I couldn't agree more that government needs to get out of all marriages - just so you know, you have to live in NH one year prior to filing for divorce (I've been studying various NH "laws.") Also, there's a new law group starting called New Hampshire Supreme Law - Dave Ridley / Ridley Report has a great youtube video about it. It's got potential to become a very, very vital piece of this revolution puzzle. :)

  • The truly obnoxious thing is domestic partnership vs marriage laws, in some states one domestic partner doesn't get covered under the others health insurance. Also if both own a house together and one dies the other pays inheritance taxes on half the house or may not inherit it at all.

  • Yup right down to finding vows we liked online...

  • Well said! The government should never have been involved in marriage. Saying that, I have had three government marriages, and you're right, getting out of them is the worst. The way you describe the non-government marriage at the end is how my 3rd (and final) marriage was done. We were handfasted by a spiritualist, but unfortunaltely the government was still involved. Congratulations on your decision to get divorced...from the government!
