1964 Buick Riviera 2 door hardtop, example 2

Very nice condition! A great car..and notice the nice interior layout. The personal luxury/sporting car came of age in this car!

This is a nice looking car. My sister had the metallic blue Corgi Toy of this, which was given to me along with her other old toy cars a few months ago when she was having a clearout! It has these weird glowing head and tail lights which are illuminated by holding a light source to the front and rear windows - rather pointless but it facinated me as a kid! 'My' Riviera is rather tatty as I played with my sister's car in the garden! Nice to see a car show in a field again :)

That was nice of your sister to give that toy to you..I'm sure she knew how much it meant to you! I hear stories of mums who have "cleaned out" priceless collections of comic books when the owner was not about! That's cool about the reflected light in these models...these designers were pretty ingenious! Thanks for the comment! :) Jack

The first generation was great and then in 66 they started to look like the other Buicks. That razor edge really set it apart.

Right you are, Chester! It was not like anything else, and that's what made it a great car...you got the feeling that a sculptor created the car! Thanks for the comment! :) Jack

I had a chance to drive one of these several years ago Jack! Same color too. It had the 425(?) engine and really went. Stopped decently too, the brakes were huge looking when I peeked under the car. Handling was decent for a car of this period. One can't forget rides, or being allowed to have driven one of these things. What ever happened to cars in 40-odd years. Yes, they are 'safer' now, but if only technology from today could be applied to these older designs, bring them back....

Yeah, Howie, the GM cars back then had more individual personalities..the engines were that division's engines, and altho a car might share a body shell with one of another division, it was a point of pride that it had features unique to the make. Even the transmissions differed, because each make had
its own philosophy as to what was best. Gradually, the lines blurred as they shared more & more, & the romance was gone. A car was just a car, like today! Thanks for the comment, Howie! :) Jack
