Marten Transport reduced refrigeration hours by 10 percent.
In recognition of Marten Transport's commitment to energy and operational efficiency, the company was recently presented an "Energy Efficiency Leader Award" from Thermo King, a manufacturer of temperature control systems for a variety of mobile applications and a brand of Ingersoll Rand.
Martin Duffy, vice president of sales and market development for Thermo King presented the award on Thursday, June 30, 2011, to Doug Petit, executive vice president of operations for Marten Transport, at a ceremony at Marten Transport's corporate headquarters in Mondovi, Wis.
Based on customer feedback and the company's own internal efforts to increase efficiency, the Energy Efficiency Leader Award from Thermo King recognizes Martin Transport's success in:
● lowering refrigeration hours within their fleet by 10 percent
● installing auxiliary power units (APUs) to help reduce idle time to 2 percent and
● adding temperature control systems to help save millions of gallons of fuel
