@yesblanche Yes! It is a hospital band, I am working right now with Elizabeth Bachmann who staged this Elisir at the met and she told me the story. Pavarotti had just been in the hospital for Knee issues and he thought it would be superstitious to take it off... They begged him to take it off and he would not!

@rosetheatre I have this DVD at home and I've often wondered if that was a hospital band! I can't imagine why he wouldn't remove it for the performance! Still I love this duet and both of them sound fabulous.
