  • We have been to Norway and I agree with filmidioten, most Norwegians (in Norway) do not eat Lutefisk. This tradition among Norwegian-Americans started in the 18th century and is considered Immigrant Food. The food in Norway has progressed way beyond this delicacy. I still eat and love Lutefisk.

    "Lutefisk and Lefse,

    Gammelost and Cream,

Let's all cheer for the Kerkhoven (MN) basketball team!"

This was an actual cheer my mom used to say while attending school in Kerkhovven MN!

  • @ajgolfer1 @ajgolfer1 Heh. Also, most Norwegians don't eat "lutefisk and lefse" anymore, nowadays we serve lutefisk with potatoes, creamed peas and bacon. Oh well, God bless them Norwegian-Americans for being the only ones left keeping the OLD traditions alive!

  • @filmidioten id say its down to 20 percent in MN/ND also...its sorta sad.

  • Well Lefse is good but Lutefisk is eew DX Pinnekjøtt is the thing OuO <3

Me luvvz Norwegian style christmas ;D

  • She LOOKS very Norwegian :) ALTHOUGH... one correction from a Norwegian in Norway: only about 20 percent of us actually have lutefisk during the christmas holidays. I can however understand why Norwegian-Americans might get the impression that it's some huge thing over here (most Norwegians haven't even dared to taste it!) because their impression of their ancestral Norway is that of the 1800's or early 1900's when their forefathers moved to America, but Norway has MODERNIZED since then :)

  • uff da

  • Not everyone in Norway likes lutefisk. In my family only I like it, and a lot of people think it's disgusting. Jelly-like fish that smells half-rotten ;-)

the texture and the odour change when cooking, if done right. Properly cooked lutefisk is firm and quite dry and a bit salty. And with stewed peas and sliced bacon - yummy.

  • she said uffda i love it!

  • I can understand why ^_^

Most people i know don't like it either. But what do I know - maybe it's more common other places in Norway?
