@n0pointmentioning It's the other way around. Santana is great but let's face it, he really hasn't improved much as a player since the 1970s. Trucks is totally adding an extra dimension to the band, that's why Clapton took him on the road & that's why he's in the Allman Brothers Band in the Duane spot. He doesn't need Santana to introduce him to the public, he's already well-known enough for his last solo album to break the billboard top 100.

Derek"s playing is way off the hook for as young as he is, i also think in the world derek grew up in helped him along the way. Having access to early duane was also a major benefit. I wonder how much better derek can get ,but i hope i am there to hear him try.

I love Carlos, the man is one great guitar player and made history multiple times.
Woodstock!!! Hell yeah!!
But, damn you mister Trucks is a Jazz master!!!!
He is like Coltrane, Miles or Mingus. True genius.

This video was made with heart! Great locate, and getting all the stage along with the super-screen. Could you "lift" the high-screen image separately and "intersperse" that with the stage shots, thus "thickening" up an otherwise quite competent video?

This is "Flame-Sky" from Santana's "Welcome" album. The parts Derek Trucks is fingerpicking here were played by Mahavishnu John McLaughlin on the album! Then it seques into "Hannibal" from "Zebop!" which is played as part of "Yaleo" from "Supernatural."

Absolutely sublime playing by Derek Trucks. The guy has got amazing finger picking technique. Sounds like Carlos used to sound in his creative 70's period.
