En Passant, it's a very legal move. There's only one rule about this though, if you are doing an En Passant, you have to do it after you opponent moves their piece. You can't come back 5 moves later and do it.
They made this rule once they allowed the pawns to move two spaces from their starting position, many GM's were getting an unfair advantage by moving their pawns next to attacking pawns. So they created the rule so you can't avoid the capture if you move the pawn like this.
