  • the voice is good. she need to spend time refining her technique. the voice reminds me of Rita Hunter- large & flexible. Very good acuti but the runs and trills need a lots of work. I hope she continues to work hard we need voices like this.

  • I'm not complaining. She's better and more interesting than the majority of train wrecks I've seen grace the Met

  • @granten0re So you mean she's too fat to have a career? You're probably right - just like no one ever heard of Jessye Norman and Margaret Price because of their size...! If anyone stinks that would be you! Stick to your musical theatre and leave promising and talented young opera singers alone.

  • Where are you people coming from. grantenOre should be ashamed of such mean comments. I have listened to opera for over 50 years and never thought I would have the priviledge of hearing a voice like Angela's again. Dame Montesarrat Cabelle was crucified too. Just listen to the response Angela recieved, you cannot tell me that all these people are ignorant. Thank you Angela for who you are, not only do you sing beautiffuly but you are very attractive on stage also.

  • I didn't know she had an E. That's the only thing I liked about the entire performance.

  • @granten0re You´re a real grandious ASSHOLE!

  • @madridd1 I tell Peter Gelb what I think by voting with my feet. Much as I would have liked to see Ernani and much as I love Hvorostovsky and Furnaletto I couldn't countenance the idea of two and a half hours listening to Meade so I gave it a miss.

Peter Gelb is looking to keep his costs down by hiring untrained singers on the cheap on one hand and sending a stream of letters soliciting donations on the other. Not likely to have much success if this is what he dishes up as new talent!!!

  • @Ariadne7710 You should go tell Peter Gelb that the Met is hiring singers whose vocal techniques are "way below any acceptable standard." While you're at it you can tell the Tucker Foundation, and the Sills Foundation. I'm sure they'll agree with you...

  • @granten0re Hahaha! You're comparing Musical Theatre and Opera as if they're the same vocal style! That's good. I needed a good laugh today!

  • WOOOOOOOW! no words!

  • we used to say, 'You're as good as your last note.' it says more about audiences than singers.
