Sunwing Airlines Still Number 1 in Service

Airlines fined $175000 for stranding passengers on plane, is the latest in a series of headlines where airlines are slammed by the media. In Canada the musician who had his guitar destroyed by United Airlines baggage handlers became somewhat of a folk hero for standing up for his rights through a song and YouTube video. Even I have made videos where based on first hand negative flight experience I talked about the airline and what happened.

But fair is fair, and equal or even more time should be devoted to positive experiences because there are millions of satisfied passengers flying each week, the silent majority.

Six out of the last seven trips (all inclusive travel) that Cindy and I have taken have been on Sunwing Airline. I do my own research for the best price to the destination and resort of our choice and it has been Sunwing that has consistently offered the best price. No bias, no bull. When we travel consecutively to different destinations Sunwing has had the connections that minimized our departures. My most memorable travel connection was flying from Punta Cana in the morning to Toronto at noon and being on a flight to Holguin Cuba later in the afternoon. Even Cindy and I have arrived from Jamaica in Toronto at 1 am only to be departing to Cancun at 6:30 am.

For our upcoming Puerto Vallarta travel, I eliminated the scenic flights (Vancouver Calgary Puerto Vallarta) and the late night departures based on things I read from travelers experiences

The vacation was great and most of the staff at the hotel are very nice but one thing we did not know about was the fact that our flight got into Mexico around Two in the morning we got to the hotel around Three in the morning and were told that there are no rooms free for all of the guests till one in the afternoon. Nothing is open at this hotel after about 1:00am so we had to sit in the lobby with about twenty other people with no rooms till the cleaning staff arrived and got the rooms cleaned. I wish that we would have been told that we could not get rooms till the afternoon cause by the time you fly all night you just want to get your room and start relaxing on your holiday.

When I read stories like this, I just dont know what the airline is thinking. Today we are all travel experts, we all have a voice and there are many platforms for talking about our travel experiences

Right this minute, Nov. 25, 2009 on CNN Campbell Brown is talking about airline feesgoing up. Sunwing airlines has given us a 10 kg exemption for our camera and other equipment, service I will talk about and a great way to start our next video travel guide.

all the airline is doing is basically kissing up to people thats all sunwing dosen't even offer a t.v like jetblue now jetblue is better then sunwing i never has problems with them and the pilots love to fly through bad weather like at JFK if its snowing like crazy they still fly other airlines dont like snow because they cant handle the weather thats why jetblue has alot of expierance flying in bad weather

If good service is kissing up...kiss away. Just a smile and courteous response can be uplifting. I don't say that anyone is perfect, 9 out of the last 12 travels we had were on Sunwing, I choose them based on cost and convenience and the service has been a pleasant surprise.

Flying into bad weather is dumb, I watch Mayday and more than one pilot has made the fetal mistake, don't gamble with me on a flight.

I flew on Sunwing to Cuba last year, and the plane was almost 12 hours late, because they had to pick up stranded people or something.

I once arrived in Cancun and the transfer bus wouldn't depart because all the passengers were not accounted for. After more than an hour they showed up, they stopped at the airport to have something to eat and drink. Lot's of dirty looks for them.

I know the guy who started Sunwing, I use to be best friends with his kids, and they lived just down the street, but than they had to move after Air Canada bought Canadian Airlines, and he got left off

@danielc365 you may get all of that on Jetblue but you don't get the great customer service as you would on Southwest plus airlines don't decide if they get to take off because of weather that would be the airport and FAA limitation decision

And the last question nagging my mind is... if Sunwing's airplanes seem to break down 1 out of every 2 trips ( google search Sunwing delay and you will see thousands of complaints entered ) How safe are Sunwings planes to travel? With there track record and the 16 hour delay last time...... I will never use Sunwing again.

Used Sunwing 5 times. 3 out of 3 times departing Cancun delayed for more then 3 hours due to mechanical problems.

1 out of 2 times departing Puerto Vallarta delayed 2 hours due to mechanical problems.

Sunwing planes are old, uncomfortable, cramped and break down all the time.

Used Air Canada twice to Mexico. Never delayed. Planes very comfortable. personal dvd players a bonus.

Used West jet twice to Mexico. Never delayed. Planes are comfortable.

Ill pay the $100 more per trip for piece of mind.

Dude ill tell you what, enjoy a 16 hour delay in Cancun where it was explained to us the delay was due to the flight attendant deploying the emergency slide on the tarmac.Get dumped at some crappy hotel where Sunwing refuses to put guests up for the night. Join 150 passengers sleeping on pool chairs while we wait for the plane to be repaired. Then get refused bus service back to the airport unless we check out of a hotel we didn't check in to and well see how much you rave about Sunwing after!
