Is there some place nearby where he can run like crazy off leash?
I'm thinking about getting a GSP for hunting. Take a look at some GSP hunting videos on Youtube. You will find that the dog is absolutely the happiest animal in the world when he is in the field, running, and working for you. Fantastic dogs!

My GSP is 12 now ans still runs around like that! He has definitely slowed down from his puppy years, but still outplays our younger dogs!

These dogs will always be full of energy.
My dog is currently 18 months and is full of energey, his father is 8 years old and still runs, jumps and swims like a champ, he's very big and strong too. I only own his puppy though, my friend has the rest. As they grow, they become more mature dogs, they become vey obedient and everything, but that fire that they have within......that one.....no one can put it out.
