Interesting concept. I wouldn't want to be in it when it loses power.
SideDriver. Drive allways.

huey091foundation is trying to revive the manufacture of the iBOT with help from its inventors at DEKA. If you want an ibot, if you know someone who needs an ibot, if you want to help us, get in touch after you have seen our website gary.lawson

@nosadloss For years they've been able to build a robotic dog/horse to keep it's own control even on gravel, ice, uphill, sand, mud, using 4 legs while carrying heavy load. A disabled man using that machine can climb hills, walk through forest and over ice or snow. The problem is that no one cares about the disabled, their number one priority is MONEY and profit. That's why when Berkley-Bionic builds an Exoskeleton, first it completes the military version to get Pentagon cash then for disabled.

@Hesam0000 Exoskeletral type assistance has a wider scope than just allowing disabled people more mobility. Wider use and adoption would mean more r&d, options and lower costs. Win / Win. Would be cool to be able to drive up to the mall i a road worthy quad bike type thing that can be parked and then the 'human bit' detachable into a more wheelchair like thing that can roam around the mall and stand upright while shopping around the stores or the office or having a drink at the bar.
-
@Hesam0000 But you didn't answered my question, I have a really hard time when there're no rams and just stairs, so one like this would really help.

@elpimproy An experimental one named Galileo is super hightech but not yet produced.
Personally I know Exoskeleton is the future and in 50 years people will laugh at today's wheelchairs.
-
@elpimproy Yes they lowered the price by $1000 as if it would make a difference! Then dicontinued it after no one could afford it and Medicare didn't pay for it. Now there are 2 better ones available. If you like to go faster and over sand or into forest then Segway chairs are coming out(segsolutions4freedom site). If you prefer a more stable one that can climb medium-height stairs and all kinds of rough roads but somewhat chunkier then (Challenger 4x4) is the best. First one $ 8000 2nd$13000

@Hesam0000 Looks like they were listening! They made Exoskeleton. Still needs lots of improvement but this is what I meant 3 years ago.

@Hesam0000 Your comment was 3 years ago, I also use a wheelchair and I was wondering if the price you mention has change?
It's $25000. But I've been wondering, if they could make a wheelchair stand and keep balance when pushed why can't they program a smaller version to get tied to the body and make a person stand and even walk with a button for stand, another for walk and another for sit or step-climb?
Soon a person can walk forward and not fall on any surface.

How can you put a price on your legs? Much less your independence and ability to earn a living. I work in the aerospace industry and can not tell you how difference the iBot 4000 has changed my ABILITY'S on the job and at home.
