The Lycoming AEIO-360 engine with 180 horses, inverted fuel & oil systems and large wing allows for tight maneuvers and slower entry speeds. Greg Koontz flies this popular plane through a solo aerobatic routine that demonstrates its agility with a full set of outside loops, vertical rolls, snaps & tumbles and inverted passes. Grand finale is the inverted ribbon cut.

  • WE agree again... I would like to know.... ?

  • What Oz Park Pilot said, this is a great example of airman-ship... Great flying... A

lot can do it in a Pitt's, only a few can do it in a Decathlon, with this degree of

precision... Very smooth... I just wonder, how many other modifications were

made to this Decathlon, other than the engine ? That is some pull,,, on the

    "back-side"...

  • As an Aerobatic instructor... He is very smooth an VERY impressive. Its one thing to do it in an Edge, MX2 or Sukhoi but a Decath ! Just fantastic flying my man !

  • @nighthawk0077 its an aerobatic trainer sir....

  • wow i didnt know a high wing trainer plane can be used for aerobatics like that! Great precision flying there!

  • Pro!

  • @rccardude04 if you ever make it to las vegas, i'll take you up in a real super D. :)

  • Amazing aerobatic display. I actually went and bought a 98" r/c model Super Decathlon after seeing this video. It will see lots of inverted time just like Koontz's full scale version.

If only I could afford the real thing along with the maintenance and training required... LOL Maybe some day...

  • I had the opportunity to fly With Greg Koontz in this very airplane which is a Super Decathlon at an Airshow in Union City Tennessee Sept 11,2010 benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He is a super nice guy and a great pilot he is a lot of fun to fly with. Thanks Greg!!! for my very first aerobatic plane ride it was awesome!!!!

  • Very nice !
