Totally amazing. Soul of the very deepest. And then some! I heard once that she was a maid to the iconic Big Maybelle. Well, if so, then is it surprising she developed into such a wonderful songstress? Betty's body of work contained some of the very best of Deep Soul......WHAT A SAD FEELING, NEARER TO YOU, CRY TO ME, WHAT DID I DO WRONG, and many more classic tracks. Up there with Etta, Big Maybelle, Irma Thomas, Maxine Brown. Fantastic.

Loses audio at about 2:30 and I don't think the original 45 faded there ... did it? A great voice

Deep Soul fron "N'Awlins." Great choice, Thanks.

I first heard Betty in the 60s singing this track on Bells Cellar of Soul Vol 1.
Brilliant.
That album (Ive just bought again on the Kent records label) has a track by James Carr (another forgotten soul hero) called Fool For You - where Betty sings a support lyric - what a powerhouse of a voice. Better than Aretha Franklin. Ive been listening to soul music for 50 years and Betty although not best known has one of the greatest women's soul voices Ive ever heard. This woman can sing!

You're absolutely right NRGrules. I have her UK Action LP, but it's not enough! Real Soul music has the original 'X-factor', that the current TV wannabes couldn't even aspire to!
"Soul as Deep as you like, and then some"
They don't come much more soulful than this, and I'm just about to commend it and share it with all of my "Soul friends" on YouTube! :-)

Along with her "What A Sad Feeling" this song has to be one of the greatest deep soul tracks of all time. A protege of Big Maybelle, Betty turned-out some of the most beautiful vocals ever committed to wax. Her SANSU output is an amazing body of work. Underrated but unbelieveably iconic, she is due far more recognition in Soul circles than she has previously received. NRGrules.

This track, along with "What A Sad Feeling" has to be "up there" with the very greatest of deep-soul tracks. A protegee of the amazing Big Maybelle, Betty could sing along with the finest. Such talent, such a pure voice and such SOUL! Where are you now Betty? Bought your very first UK issued recording "Cry To Me" far too way back to remember! You are sorely missed! NRGrules.
This is one of the best 100 deep soul tracks of all times, a five star side of great repute. Want this at my funeral !!!
