Would if be possible to get a gallon of oil hot enough to deep fry using that lens?
Also, as someone else said, olive oil actually has a pretty low smoke point, if you want a high smoke point you should use peanut oil.

Hey love the video. Is there a way to use the heat from below like a conventional stove( I did see this in a documentary in India). You have greater control over the heat plus it would be safer for your eyes and skin(I was worried about Denise not wearing any safety gloves for the experiment). Perhaps reflected up with a mirror and some sort of heat sink, like a metal hot plate to spread head evenly and protect you. Keep up the good work!
