Teacher Dianna Hope sings for Veterans Day ceremony

I was honored to sing for the veterans one more time! This was our school's tenth annual ceremony and veteran teacher and combat veteran Tom Barrett puts this great program together every year. He is greatly admired by Watson B. Duncan teachers and students alike, and we are lucky to know this truly honorable man.

I sing and gesture to my left and my right because that is where our special guests, veterans and active military personnel were seated. The gym was packed with our sixth graders in the bleachers straight ahead and at the end you see our principal walk in patrol because the kids got riled up toward the end.

I walked the fine line between putting emotion into the songs and holding my own emotions back, especially around minute four! There were many touching moments through the entire program and I love that I was able to give something unique to Duncan Middle's celebration in honor of the men and women who have served this country.

A special salute goes out to my brother and father who both served in the armed forces...

Thanks for the support, people! I sang this to inspire my students and lift up the veterans/military, and I managed to take down the smartalec comment, but it kind of makes me laugh now.

It said "your singing made me hate America". If you hate America, you have options. Join the military and risk your neck to protect your right to make those inane comments.

The person that left the first comment is heartless and opion doesnt matter.. I truelly appriciate your tribute and thankyou for doing it . as my husband is a vet as is many of my uncles so doing something for vetrans day is greatly appriciated
