This video depicts crew insertion into a typical daily operation as well as work and play life during a month-long "shift". I included faces and scenery representing some of the elements of travel, culture, intrigue, excitement, humor, volatility, war, tragedy, and back to humor and light-heartedness that we experienced. Despite the primary purpose of the operation being exploration, extraction, and production of oil, and the bottom line to increase revenue for the company, it's operating partners and stockholders, our ongoing mission was also humanitarian - Programs for sheltering the homeless, feeding the hungry, building infrastructure in the community, providing medical care to the sick, teaching skill sets and providing jobs, and giving hope to the deprived.

So fasten your seat belts, and I hope you enjoy the ride!

More background:
My adventures and exploits in and around, and to and from Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (also known as CABGOC), the massive Chevron Oil Production Facility - located in Malongo, Angola, West Africa, consisting of coastal base operations, as well as offshore platforms and tanker vessels in the Atlantic. This was my work location and home away from home for 4 years, supporting data and voice communications, computer networks, and other fun things pertaining to digital electronics, as well as training Angolan Telecom engineers and technicians, in a multi-national environment - 1989 to 1993.

  • @siberianwinter57 And if you are referring to Randy, he is also in the helicopter at 00:23. We were either leaving Malongo, or coming back in. We did so many chopper flights together.

  • @siberianwinter57 You mean Randy (the tall one of the 2)? I worked with him, not by job function but in Malongo. I used to work on his computer equipment a lot. He worked for the Finance group. I also traveled with him a lot since we were on the same rotation, such as when this shot was taken. Say Hi for me and show him this video. If that is him, then he is also in the beach seen towards the end, doing some sun bathing...

  • @siberianwinter57 Well our left sorry, did you work with him by any chance?

  • This is very interesting stumbling upon this, my Dad is shown at 1:35 waving he is on the right. He looks so different! Thanks for the video!

  • @rockfordfiles1977 So sorry to hear that. I'm sure he worked hard to support your family. I started there in 1989 so that was a couple years before me. I hope the video gave you good reminders and helps you to relate to what he went through. Thanks for watching.

  • @menreun How so?? Look at the size of the AS-400 in the computer room and the work terminals. How about the Ford F-150's at the beginning? We got new company vehicles like every 18 months. Were you there? Maybe I know you.
