@gnomely1 sounds like the words ae a traitorous MacDonald! Yi bam's wir always stealing oor sheep yi gits! A challenge yi tae a cudgel fight- first wan we a treacle ae blood flowin fae yer head an inch doon yer foreheed is the looser! The Buchanan's will break yer heeds fir yi!
@00McBragg There's little point in laying the blame at the door of the English. The accounts of Rob Roy, both fact and fiction, are all from Scottish sources. The bitterness and hatred between various families and clans far outweighed their animosity towards the English. Many of the feuds endured through several generations and bloody affairs they were too. Incidentally, in 1620, the Scottish Royal family, the Stewarts, ruled both England and Scotland.
@belmontsmild There is an obstacle to your suggestion in that it's unlikely that Robin Hood actually existed: His adventures are fictional and widely acknowledged so. The debunking of Rob Roy, however, is drawn entirely from Scottish accounts. I sympathise with those who prefer the legendary man but they oughtn't to worry as legends have a tendency to outlive less attractive factual accounts. I wish you well.
Often with these type of History Shows / Docs , they try to portray people from a modern perspective. Why don't they do one about Robin Hood and all him an anarchist , and criminal? Oops I forgot, he's an English (and world) folk hero =P. Completely ignoring the norms and customs of the day -even people 60 years ago would be considered Bigots, Racists, and Oppressors - if presented from a certain point of view.
@00McBragg It's important to me to know the truth as a Clan MacGregor descendant. My ancestor came to the states circa 1620 fleeing the persecutions/banning. This video is just a nutter-English hit piece on a famous Scotsman
@00McBragg Thats very true and they seem to not even mention Alan Macdonald the true theif who absconded with the money as any reader of history knows the part of Archibald Cuningham played in the Rob Roy movie isnt true but the Alan Macdonald character certainly existed and was trusted to return with Robs money Macdonald never showed and the feud with Montrose over the thousand pound lasted for decades this movie is shite this fellow wouldn't know his ars from a whole in the ground
Lots of misinformation and slander of Rob Roy in this hit piece. For one thing Rob Roy was undefeated in over 6 personal combats in his lifetime. For another thing Montrose wanted Rob's land badly (as did the Cambells) and may have been complicit in stealing the money, as depicted in the movie Rob Roy starring Leam Neason

Meant over 60 personal combats (typo) Rob Roy was a famous swordsmen, along with the rest of Clan MacGregor
