  • I heard that the city of St. Augustine, FL almost allowed a developer to demolish the Castillo and build water-front residential homes/condos on the property during the 1970's.

Thankfully, the castillo is still standing and is being taken care of by the NPS.

  • As an Indian Residential School Survivor from The Pas, Manitoba I wanted to see where this "Cultural Genocide" originated. I was put on a train shipped to a Residential School & forced not speak my Native tongue, given Residential clothing & deloused, hair cut which was very similiar to what the 72 POW Indians were put through. It was a pilgrimage & spiritual journey for me to go to this site. The sand felt like it had a heartbeat of our Native brothers & sisters when I attended.
