  • Matt Squire is known for producing power pop. HIM is NOT power pop! I was disappointed when I heard "Heartkiller" and HOPE beyond all hope that the rest of the album does not sound like that and that HIM has been able to retain their rawness on at least some of the other songs! I love HIM for their rawness, not for an american produced sound that their US record company think HIM fans want to hear. But that is just my opinion...

  • Dear Mr. Squire, If I Wanted The Used, I WOULD LISTEN TO THE FUCKING USED. Thank you sooo much For Taking an amazingly PERFECT BAND AND SHITTING ALL OVER IT.

  • my names matt squire too!

  • Dear Matt Squire,

Out of all the HIM albums, this is by far my favorite. Thanks dude.

    Also: Ville's ideas rock.

  • they chose the guy who produced all time low's shittiest album.

  • if anyone thinks Ville Valo is going to let something be released that HE does not approve of...I guess you have no respect or understanding for him. He is involved with every aspect of his music. His recent interview said, "I write the lyrics, the riffs, the melodies...Yeah, it's a band....it's a band playing MY music." Ville has total control, from the artwork to the t-shirts. Ville is HIM...don't kid yourselves.

  • Matt Squire, release the unreleased Miltown album, either that or do a reunion show in Boston.

  • @whaleandwasp ville's really at his best in this album he has never been sooo energetic and his has never been so powerful before in any other album yeah maybe the album is a little poppy but its a good sound :)

  • Alright woahhh.. Matt Squire is the fucking man! I think he's a great producer and all of his work can attest to that. These are HIM songs.. Big, huge, powerful, Catchy.. love metal whatever the fuck you want to call it. The whole point of production is to get the best performances out of people and I think Squire nailed it. Just listen to Ville go fucking balls out on Venere Veritas or the ending of Disarm Me. The album sounds good, real good and the production is a bonus not a detriment

  • Lol no.

Some producers let the band play their own music the way they like but just organise the recording shedules and such. Other producers like this scumbag spend their time working for the lable and getting the band to alter their sound.

If you want to know a guy whos a producer and is ethical look up Steve Albini. It's clear you don't know what the fuck you're talking about so you've probably never heard of him.

  • you are wrong if you think producers suck, i'd like to see half of the sorry ass bands around go into a studio with no producer and even turn the fucking gear on, i think record labels are a little more in tune to the industry than you and they direct bands to producers, and btw HIMs first album was produced by a finnish legend called Hiili Hiilesmaa so your statement contradicts itself also.

  • @DaniFilthie you're right, I'm sorry!
