Neil was / IS! the inspiration for todays percussionists. (Notice I don't use the word "drummer") There is no one "best" drummer. Vinnie's good, Portnoy's great, Dominici's fast. The list is endless. All have different styles, but all have been influenced by Neil Peart. And Bonham. And Baker. And Allen White. And and and .............Buddy Rich?

@8161Dog I fucking love Vinnie Paul and Pantera, but Neil Peart is definitely a much better drummer. Granted, they play two completely different styles, but in terms of actual musicianship Neil wipes the floor with Vinnie.

Does anyone find it funny that if this is "Dominici"........former original singer of Dream Theater- the sound of the music here is almost identical to the sound of "When Dream and Day Unite".......... someone's song structure seems to not have evolved much. It's like the music is STILL stuck in 1989. That was a great album, but, man - Dominici really needs to stop copying his old band's first album.

Wrong. Neil has changed his solo numerous times. And I didn't say that he's as good as Portnoy or Vinnie Paul or many others. Just that he was the inspiration for many of these drummers. Just ask them and I'll bet they say Neil was a huge influence on their style. Just as Buddy Rich influenced his. Yes he's getting older and slowing down a bit but I would hardly say that means he sucks.
