Continuing these kind of video comparisions, this one shows ten examples. Aigain, each receiver has been tuned to each optimum (e.g. SAM & AGC OFF with Perseus). Following some suggestions, a future video will compare both receivers restricted to the controls, up to now available with SpectraVue (they will expand, as the choice in software for the SDR-IP will also be more colorful in the possibly near future). The stations in this video present a selection of the following shortwave statinos:
1. RTV du Mali 5995 kHz
2. BBC Thailand 5875 kHz
3. HCJB Chile 9835 kHz
4. Dr. Gene Scott, Anguilla 6090 kHz
5. WWCR 5070 kHz
6. CHU 3330 kHz
8. CRI 15270 kHz
9. RNZI 9765 kHz
10. Gander VOLMET 10051 kHz
implying some different challenges. Date and time: please look at SpectraVue.

  • ... but then you surely haven't seen Simon Brown's SDR-COM yet ... 73 Nils, DK8OK

  • @ibelinp Thanks, Pieter, I am really observing any new versions. And for my upcoming tests/comparisons, I will only use the most recent one. As I got most SDRs only on lease for some weeks time, I simply have to wait for anything new... 73 Nils, DK8OK

  • Nils, Would be nice to redo some of these comparisons with SDR-Radio or the new SpectraVue version. Your video uncovered an issue with aliasing in early versions of SpectraVue. The problems have been resolved.

  • ...ifthis would be so easy to say ... And if you have come down to a result, you doubt some controls, e.g. AGC or high pass filter, or the sound you are used ... There are no definite answer, thus this is just an experiment which - on the other hand - provides more information even at his stage than those tests we are used to. 73 Nils

  • RIght, Sir, AGC has been left set to default, e.g. 2. 73 Nils, DK8OK

  • Did you set the Perseus AGC threshold to about 80? By listening it appears that you didn't... this makes Perseus sound much more noisy than in reality is...

  • audio sounds much better on the perseus
