Here I am singing a song that was a huge hit for another hero of mine, Bobby Darin, in 1959. It was originally written as "La Mer", by legendary entertainer Charles Trenet in 1943. I hope you like my version of this classic song!!! :)

The arrangement used here is from Robbie Williams' wonderful version of this song, which can be found on the Capitol CD, "Swing When You're Winning". Williams' version was based on the classic recording made by Bobby Darin which can now be found on various CDs, under the ATCO, Elektra / Wea, and Rhino / Wea labels.

  • I love this song and your rendition of it. Have you seen the movie with Kevin Spacey?

  • @myvoiceimpressions Thank you, Dave. Really appreciate it!

Yes! Love Spacey's film! He was incredible as Darin! :)

  • Why the hell isnt there any frank sinatra Original Beyond the Sea videos on youtube

  • Frank Sinatra never sang "Beyond The Sea". It's a Bobby Darin song. Well, it's originally Charles Trenet's song, but Bobby Darin had the smash hit with his upbeat version. Maybe you are thinking of "Mack The Knife"? That was also a huge hit for Darin, but Sinatra finally recorded his own version of that song in 84. Hope that helps. :)

  • Not an easy song, awesome renditioned Greg !

  • Bobby's classic 1959 Hit Big Band Record. He so wanted to be a Big Band Swing Singer like Sinatra. You sing this one so smooth & swingin' like Bobby did in '59 when he wanted to prove to his record producers that he could make a Hit Record of a Swing Big Band Tune as he liked instead of the 1958 "Splish-Splash" Rock tune that his producers only felt he could ever be successful with. He went on in 1960 to make "Mack the Knief" a second BigBand Swing HIT too. Your version is GREAT, Greg!---BRIAN

  • this so fantastic Buddy...awsome vocal and a great video
