This wonderful piece was composed by Liam Teague, one of the co-directors of the NIU Steelband. It was performed at the April 2006 concert featuring Liam, Candice Ferguson, Eric Liebing and Talib Robinson.
"train crash style?" Katalindre you misunderstood, or maybe you don't know enough yet... Liam Teague is an incredibly humble man. His compositions for all ensembles are terrific and solid. Study this tune further. Listen to his panorama tunes.
Damn this is fast. Our interpretation is much slower.. I have met Liam in person and he has told me that his expertise is not in the large band area as he only writes really for the solo pan... represented by the train crash style here O.o
well you all sound great! What a killer groove to solo over. Its interesting how players are so influenced by their teachers style...y'all play hella notes and scale runs like Liam.
Just curious does Liam specify technique for tenor players in his band? I play mostly thumbs up lots of finger (index & middle) some wrist, and I noticed playing with Liam that he uses a slightly different technique, looked like lots of wrist with snare grip type hand position.
yeah, beautiful tune!! Amazing....we played it with the HSU calypso band....our drummer at the time was super sick and I think our version (feat. Liam) was a lot sicker than this...not sure if Liam will let us release it though!!
Just started this here at Miami University

Which one? There are 2 other lead guys, Eric Liebing and Talib Robinson, and then a girl, that would be me.
