I well remember the polio epidemics of the 1940s and 50s. All girls then wore skirts, so viewing was great, but the "devotee" thing had not then come into the open so looking was all one could do, such a shame as pretty girls with legs encased in cumbersome irons and straps were everywhere and no doubt many of them ended up single and lonely. How times change!
