jeg hørte to ravner at holde råd.

  • k now is this danish or norwegian?

  • Danish words sung with Norwegian pronounciation. Though back when this translation was first published (1840s) the written language was still the same in both countries.

  • This song is foken awesome! Where can I find English or German translation of the text?

  • Seeing as the text is a danish translation of a scottish ballad which name is mentioned in the box on the right ("The twa corbies"), I advise you to seek out the text of that.

  • The Scottish/Irish/English band Five hand reel played this song with Danish folk singer Alan Klitgaard in 1978 called "De to Ravne". Its in pure danish. The LP is over 500 worth in danish money. Impossible to find on the net. The Album is called "Ebbe, Dagmar, Svend og Alan" This awesome video is the closest thing i have found so far. But i aint stopping undtil i have Alan Klitgaard on Youtube.

  • @JHBSmit yeah its my friend who placed that version on Youtube :) Il talk to him, maybe we put the entire album on youtube.

  • @Ormgaard You can stop, because someone placed Klitgaard's version on YouTube.

Extremely beautiful version as well, so thanks for your tip & information!

And now let's hunt for the complete album...

  • "You can sit on his white neck-bone,

    And I'll peck out his blue eyes;

With one lock of his golden hair

We'll thatch our nest when it grows bare."

  • English Translation : As I was walking all alone, I heard two ravens making a moan; One said to the other, "Where shall we go and dine today?" (x2) "In behind that old turf wall, there lies a newly slain knight; And no one knows that he lies there, But his hawk, his hound and his loved one." "His hound is to the hunting gone, (in the forest) His hawk to fetch the wild-fowl home, His lady went with another, So we may make our dinner quietly."
