This fox is clearly showing stereotypical behaviour because of the lack of sufficient stimuli giving it the opportunity to perform natural behaviours. Stereotypical behaviours are a coping mechanism that animals use to relieve stress. It is our responsibility when keeping animals in captivity to provide as close of a natural habitat as possible to prevent these problems occuring.

You don't know why the poor animal would be pacing? How about you let me do an experiment on you. Then after a few weeks/months, you could tell the whole Fing world what the "pacing signifies". Go back to the plastic bubble from whence you came. It's dopy zombies like you that blindly have your kids take pictures in front of this type of torture "exhibit".
Somebody, anybody please, get some wire cutters and return the poor thing to it's original habitat.

Yeah, they get crazy in lack of stimulation. Uneducated people think animals have nothing in their heads. We share more than 95% of our genes with all mammals on the planet. I would say it is probably much worse for an animal to be locked in a cage than for a human, because we can think that maybe we'll get out some day. The animal just feelis constantly trapped!

For an animal it's just a constant feeling of desperation which is probably very stressful.
