when i play 5 over 2 (or 2 over 5):
my hihat plays 5 beats per count
my bassdrum and snare 2 beats per count
(kick and snare alternating)
so it would sound like a 5/4 pattern
with a kick on the 1
and a snare on the 3& (dead center)
But, I do play it in 4/4 time so i could go back and forth between quintuplets, quarter notes, sextuplets, triplets, eight notes etc.with a constant beat on the 1 & 3 of the 4/4 on respectively the bassdrum and snare.
Like it better that way to be honest...

can we see the fill as a quarternote quintuplet? i meen you can do it with ervery odd grouping, don't you? so is every time i play a quarternote triplet the same as i play 3 over 2 ?

@Aristocat2 Everythime you play a "Quarter Note Triplet" in 4/4 time, YES, you are doing 3 over 2 for the first 2 quarter notes........and, logically it seems, as a quarter note quintuplet could be THOUGHT of as the simiiart approach from the MATH standpoint you stated! Thanks!

How is this a polyrhythm? You're not playing multiple rhythms at the same time. All this sounds like 3 measures of 4/4 and a fill using two measures of 5/8. Using this logic would a fill in two measures of 7/8 be a "7 over 4" or "7 over 2" polyrhythm? No.

@DanieLDude1554 The point was is to demonstrate how " 5 over 2" can be calculated. And, yes it is a polyryhthm.."5" notes going against "2" notes, regardless of the fill, beats and amount of measures that I played that this video concept contained. again, you can look at at many things related numerically ...........(is the glass half empty, or half full"?......and its not a fill in 5/8, because the eighth note speed value is not related to the eighth note in the 4/4 time! Thanks!
