Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, other senior Obama Administration officials and civic education, government, business and philanthropy leaders gather to discuss the importance of civic learning and engagement in democracy for the 21st century. The event marks the release of "A Crucible Moment: College Learning and Democracy's Future," a new report to the Department of Education from leading civic scholars and practitioners, as well as the Department's own report, "Advancing Civic Learning and Engagement in Democracy: A Road Map and Call to Action." The event will also highlight the new American Commonwealth Partnership, which aims to bring together thousands of universities, colleges, community colleges, schools and other civic partners to promote civic education, civic mission and civic identity throughout all of education in the United States. • @meltdown53 - It must be very nice to have the power and insight to know what EVERYONE has seemed to forgotten!!

  • @Solarfactor - A Republican President never gave me health care, couldn't catch Bin Laden.I like the cap on Wall Street and holding Bank execs accountable. The Pension Relief act.Closing offshore Tax safes and Credt loopholes.Credit card reform. Promoted Internet freedom. Expanded loan programs for small American businesses.Increased funding for land-grant college.
