Most of your vehicles are European style firefighting trucks, it was my belief that in South America you used U.S. firetrucks,I was suprised to see most of them being from our continent. . I even see those old Mercedes firetrucks from the sixties, did they have spare parts for those antiques?

@boinkboink1968 Most of these trucks are not in active service any more. We used to have many european trucks in Chile but now things are changing and dozens of american trucks have been incorporated to the service.

@amaggio2002 Are there in general also more U.S. cars sold or do people consider them gas guzzlers?

Everyone in Europe who buys an U.S. car or truck doesn't buy it for it's economic engines, the moment they arrive on European shores , those U.S. behemoth's are fitted with LPG. If running costs are anything to go by I would not consider them for equipment in a European Firestation.

@boinkboink1968 One of the reasons why in Chile you can find so many Renault's fire trucks is because they were the only ones able to give credit and better payment conditions to chilean firefighters. However there are some Fire Companies who have the resources to import something else and many of them have prefered the american trucks. There are many reasons for doing that but it's too long to explain here.
