The Coast Guard was doing some training todat just past the 1/2 mile offshore bouys. The lifeboat would head out to the bouys and park for awhile, Turn and race offshore only to do a 180 degree turn and head back at full speed. The seas weren't rough since the wind was blowing 25 knots out of the northeast. The did manage to buck a few swells and small waves while we were filming them though. The speed of the 47' is pretty impressive given the size of the vessel. It's powered by 2 Detroit diesel engines.
