Pistona suomeksi 1+2. Suomessa tätä on käytetty ohuemmissa kirkkokintaissa. Muualla maailmassa pisto tunnetaan Tanskan Mammenista löydetystä, 960-luvulta peräisin olevasta miehen haudasta, josta löytyi neulakinnastekniikalla tehtyjen koristeiden jäänteitä. Koristeissa oli käytetty kulta- ja hopealankaa. Myös Egyptissä n. 400-luvulla on tehty sukkia tällä samalla pistolla.

Kun olet jonkin aikaa tehnyt tällä pistolla, huomaat todennäköisesti, että pystyt poimimaan yhdellä kertaa nuo kaksi silmukkaa peukalon takaa. Se nopeuttaa työtä.

A version of Finnish Stitch, but simpler/thinner one. In Finland this stitch has been used in thinner, decorative church mittens. Elsewhere this stitch is known from Denmark, Mammen, where a man's grave from 960's CE was found, and among other things there were remains of decoratives made in nalbinding technique. Decoratives had been made with gold and silver threads. This same stitch has also been used in socks found in Egypt in ab. 400's CE.

After working with this stitch for a while you will probably notice you are able to pick up both of the two loops behind the thumb at the same time. It will speed up the work.

Please do notice that the movements are slow on purpose, and that due to some difficulties combining suitable light and the position of the video camera, and that I wanted to see my hands both irl and on the small video screen, I had to keep my arms and hands in a bit akward and clumsy position, so the movements may not look "natural".

  • This was nice. The mammen stitch was the first stitch I learned.
