  • Its called a Top Load and its there as a Capacitor to store and break out the electricity.

  • lol. i still not sure entireley how it works. all i know is i better stay the heck away from high voltage electronics :D

  • The "top load" completes the resonant circuit

    The flat coil and a capacitor bank make the primary circuit and the long coil and the top load make the secondary circuit- the top load gives the capacitance in the L-C circuit
