  • as a pianist , naturally familiar with so many great performers -- i have to say - Sofronistky - over all - is probably the MOST artistic and musical pianist i have EVER heard. i once thought i had heard all there is , technically-temperament, poetry, lyricism, drama, architecture, texture, color, harmonic sense, atmosphere, spontaneiety - etc...until Sofronitsky. his playing is that rarity for me -- it is OTHERWORLDLY. it is as if he is both on earth and from another planet.

  • Truecrypt, Just when I thought I had my youtube habit under control, I stumble across your site. I had a steady diet of Richter as a child ( my mother adored him ), but Sofronitsky is a new pleasure for me. And what a pleasure it is. Between the two of them, I don't need much else right now.

  • When I was a kid,I always thought "Lento" was soup. And indeed it is.A soup here of marvel-

ous Not-Understated Nostalgia.(A profanity in the Modern west)I know.
