The mystery of the Holy Grail is the mystery of faith. It is not the search for the cup itself but for what is contained in the cup. It was through the shedding of Christ's blood that He paid for our sins, and so when we drink his blood, in the Eucharist we join in communion with our Savior. That is when the real, true "transcendent experience" takes place as we pass from condemned mortal sinners into the union and grace of Christ which confects everlasting life through this Transubstantiation.
