This is easy to explain - Ice crystals are formed in space, and at the right time will focus the suns rays (like a magnifying glass) and evaporate "rings" into the cloud formation. This happens also when there are no clouds and the concentrated shaft of sunlight causes other weird things to occur, like thousands of dead birds etc

its not that technology either, its actually directed energy from a HAARP weapon, or what everyone calls because of BattleField Bad Company 2, a scalar weapon. scalar weapons use similar energy as EMP's but on a much BIGGER scale. The weapon sends out EM pulses BEFORE "detenation", destroying almost every aspect of technology (basically sending the target back to the stone age) not even the slitest amount of technology and electrical divices are left behind.
