The video documentary presented the plight of tobacco farmers and impact of tobacco use in selected ASEAN countries. it highlighted the truth of tobacco farming and how it primarily benefits transnational tobacco companies and other local manufacturers. Farmers in Cambodia, Vietnam and Philippines were filmed, featuring the deprivation of tobacco farmers in terms of income, health, social and natural environmental deterioration. The video documentary also portrayed the Malaysian government's initiative to actively promote crop diversification and replacement under its 'Tobacco Industry Restructuring Plan'. The adverse impact of tobacco use on the user and how it imposes and enormous burden of health care cost to the family, and productivity losses to countries were also depicted.
