ParhoPakistan program has been devised in order to bring about accelerated word recognition for school children and adults alike.
This program is being developed as part of Heritage Foundation (HF) humanitarian work being carried out in the most marginalized, post-disaster areas of the county i.e. Swat and the Siran Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Katcha areas of Khairpur, Sindh.
The project is being carried out in Darya Khan Sheikh Village, union Council Kot Mir Mohammad, Taluka Kingri, District Khairpur, Sindh. The village is locally known as 'Kacha' (along the river bed) and was the most economically challenged in the post floods 2010 context.
HF provided low cost housing for the entire devastated village under the 'Green KaravanGhar' project and provided tools for the economy to develop and sustain them on. A women's centre is functional and one school, a health centure and a women's centres are under construction in Khairpur villages.
The program aims to make use of Flash cards, books and computers to promote literacy and build in the capacity of the community to sustain itself in the long-run.
