Demonstrating class V fillings on tooth no. 24, no. 25 & no. 26 using the super filled Clearfil Majesty Flow from Kuraray. First thing done is the dental retraction wire and second the preparation of the surface with the gentle use of a small ball-shaped diamond "scratching" the polished surface. The two steps self-etching Clearfil Protect Bond is used (Primer for 20 seconds and Bond lightcured for 10 seconds). This bonding gives a huge advantage because we don't need to use the phosphoric acid pretreatment guaranteeing gingival bleeding. Through the following entire proces it's very important to airdry the surface near gingiva to avoid gingival fluid compromising the bonding strength to the composit. The colours used in this case are Clearfil Majesty Flow"Cv" as for "Cervikal" which is an opaqe dentin coloured flow and Clearfil Majesty Flow A3,5 (Vita shade). The fillings are finalized with a "yellow" polishing flame-shaped diamond, a green rubber polisher and then the retraction cord is removed. Optionally the fillings could be polished with a diamond containing paste.

  • I agree, it looks like it is a tough time pulling the retraction cords out. They are not intact cause the tip of the diamond burr has made a small cut in one of them. It is easy to pull them out though. No extra force is needed.

Regarding the removal of the excess at the cervical margin I make a complete stop with the dimaond burr a lot times to feel if there is any excess leftover at the cervical margin with the tip of the burr. Hope this was helpfull to you.

  • Thank You very much for Your kind words. Yes it is correct that the Primer in Clearfil SE Bond is self-etching. One bottle of self-etching primer for effective one-step conditioning of cut enamel and dentin without rinsing. 2 steps is all You'll need and the bonding strength for Clearfil SE Bond exceeds most competitors even the 3 steps systems. Kindly Dr. HAJJ
