Coconut Oil cannot be patented like a drug can so you will never see pharmaceutical companies doing a huge double blind study on Coconut Oil. They petitioned the FDA about using Turmeric but the FDA told them no, you can't patent a natural ingredient/spice found in nature. But that won't prevent them from creating something synthetically similar and trying to peddle it later. That is typically how it works but those synthetic ingredients often turn out to be toxic.

who will invest in providing a proof unless there is commercial benefit? Coconua oil cannot be patented. No pharma compnay will spend a pie unless it can recoup dollars.

All I can say is in India there is traditional knowledge of coconuts healing properties.
