One thing i forgot to mention:
If you want to place the hyperlink inside the login view than you would want to replace this:

hyperlink1.visible = {0}

with

CType(LoginView.FindControl("HyperLink1"), HyperLink).Visible = True

With that being said
In this video i demonstrate how to create membership roles, creating access rules and applying the roles to our account.
I will give 1 user site admin access and will give another user a basic user role only.
After this setting up i will show you (from what i learned) how we can make controls visible to users who are within the site admin role and vice versa if they're in any other role outsite of site admin.
My comp was alittle slow so please bare with me in this video.

  • Thanks for this post....

  • Thanks for the video. I tried to follow everything the same as you demonstrated, but (when I debug), the "User" object has all empty data including user name so the call User.IsInRole() never returns true. Am I missing anything? I followed everything as I saw in the video.

  • simple and to the point.. thnx fr the vid.

  • how can I provide my own membership database ?

  • you can also use the WSAT tool along with loginStatus to accomplish it. Awesome vid though.
