Thanks for mentioning that there is now no way to get a 1600x900 res screen on an envy. I was going to blast you on that so I am glad you mentioned that this is a refurb.

@PartyHatCookieCat I really don't think the portability difference is that big at all, you can still bring it to school or university and its only a pound heavier (still very light compared to my old laptop) the real difference if you want the high res is the price.

comparing the screen resolutions of the two machines on your camera is a fail. And yeah, please get a tripod...

@BenMalas Misunderstanding the screen real-estate measurement is fail. I'm not trying to show the screen resolution itself, I'm trying to show how much of the screen a window of a given size occupies on each laptop.

The envy 13 model here is not the newest one either. There was actually a revision after the one I reviewed here. These two models were contemporaries at one point. Also, the new macbook pros have the same resolutions as the previous generation except for the mbp 15 which has 1680x1050. So, the comments about the 13 inch mpb vs. envy are still valid.

The macbook pro 15 inch has a high res screen option. Also resolution really isn't a big deal...and please get a tripod lol

@Temporaryaccount2 It depends what you use your laptop for. I happen to write code on my laptop, so I need a high resolution because modern IDEs have tool and explorer windows that take up a lot of screen real-estate. For example, try using xcode on a macbook 13; it sucks. The revised 2010 15 inch mpb has a 1680x1050 screen option. If I were to get a new mbp, that is probably what I would get, but the portability difference between a 13inch laptop and 15inch laptop is pretty big.
